I made my semesterly run up to campus today and into Brady Commons.  There are times that I miss the walking between classes and such (at Augie, campus wasn’t much bigger that walking from Brady to Jesse, so much better there)…not when it’s cold.  Then to hell with that.  Granted, in the winter I don’t see much of the sun, and in the summer time I miss out on great weather.  Perhaps in four years when I’m teaching and get a “summer break” again I start getting color back in the skin.  Mostly cancer, but some color.

Anyways, what’s the deal with getting dressed up for class.  Or, the lack of getting dressed.  Seeing 65% of the female students walking around in sweatpants and Uggs makes me cringe…not for the lack of options, but for the fact it’s rather silly looking.  Sure, the Aussie’s are glad we buy their silly boots, so they don’t have too, but really…with sweatpants?  Suck it up and put on jeans.

Finally, a word about this economy (well, maybe a few).  Yes, we’re in a recession, and yes, I don’t have to worry about it (cause folk always need power).  But in reading something from Bill O’Reily (yeah, sometimes he’s got a point that’s keeping), the populous really did itself in on this one. Sure, as the AP reported, the government may have let the banks run away with this. Still, there’s some personal responsibility to be had. You (in general) needed that new Blue-Ray, or that trip to Mexico…you had to have the five bedroom house when you’ve only got 2 kids. It’s really unfortunate that this kind of panic needs to occur before people wise up…so follow Bill’s advice…save. Maybe not to the extreme he’s talking about….it’s still important to spend money. And though it may seem classy to only go the local place, anywhere is fine. They still employ local folk, and more importantly, pay local taxes. So eat where ever. Just do it. But buy ethanol…cause Dad needs to retire soon.

Much has occured since we last spoke.  I gotten a house, dog, PhD, and wife, in that order.  And, since my credit seems to have survived this wave of uncertainty and doom, I’m doing much better than that “FreeCreditReport.com” jackass.  So now I toil away in wedded bliss, into the holiday season.  Tomorrow I’m off to the frozen north to hit up my parents.  Last weekend was Indiana and Kati’s family.  As her Mom’s kin actually had multiple children, I’ve gotten myself a score or more of new cousins, of various ages (38ish down to 6ish). Because of this, I’ve been informed that Twilight is the single greatest movie of all time. WOW…I told her to check out Patton. Not that she would enjoy it, but I reckon it’s a better film. Yep, I’m a jerk….

So, in a odd turn, our hero (me) decided that being just a boyfriend was not all that it was cracked up to be.   He demanded more.  So, I proposed to Kati…and, thank the maker, she said yes.  And, with the house buying done, I have offically become domestic.  Now, I don't have any grand or romantic story to tell.  This was one of those things that was expected, but not expected….but, also, we don't have the ring yet.  Going to use her grandmother's, which is still in Indiana.  So, currently using a place-holder ring, in the form of one of my Aunt's rings.  It works out ok.

So, yet again, I've lied…I didn't keep up with my writing.   One thing is that I can never seem to remember how to get the site that allows me to right.  But, I've told ROOMIE PRIME about it, so maybe I can get the old format back.  However, it's been a busy three months.  Working on this manuscript has been hell.  Wanted to get it done by Christmas, and the end of this month may be pushing it.  Luckly, I'm told that the second paper is easier than the first.  Also, had the big annual APS meeting in April, so that kept me busy trying to get everything set up for that.

Also, I've decided to keep a private journal as well.  Though I still don't write as often as I should, I think it's important to have.  One always here's on the History/Biography Channel about so and so writing in his private journal, which then gets used to describe them.  Well, since I'm going to be uber famous some day, I figured I needed to start writing.  Also, it's going to be easier to write that pivital autobiography with this.

Ok, so I haven't written since the summer….it happens.  Here's what I've been doing since then.  Research, the musical, football, baseball, softball, choir, Warcraft.  Perhaps not all in that order, but something like that.  Now, not knowing HOW to update has also been an issue, as ROOMIE PRIME kepts changing the format.  But, now I'll try and update more.

OK, so here’s something I haven’t complained about (no, seriously).  So, this past weekend, I headed up to Chi-town to pick up Kati and see the kin.  Well, tooth started hurting.  Ya see, I only have the two “wisdom” teeth on the top.  The one on the right has been fine, but the one on the left did grow out right….so it would hurt every now and then.  This past weekend…god did it hurt.  To the point that Monday, I was damn near in tears during dinner.  So, I says to myself….screw this noise, she’s coming out.  Now, one of the great aspects of grad school is the lack of dental insurance.  So, no matter what I do, I’m gonna be out a bit of Lettuce.  Nevertheless, I call up STERLING DENTAL CARE and see if they can do anything for me.  I think I called them cause of their neat commercial.  But, I went in thinking the Doc would take a look and tell me to come back….nope.  He takes a look, numbs me up, and tears’em out.  Both….so, now i’m sorta pain free (that whole there’s two holes in my mouth aside) and $553 poorer.  I can dig it…Can you?
